On October 8, the donation ceremony of Donghua University Weiqiao Education and Research Innovation Fund was held at the Songjiang Campus of Donghua University in Shanghai.

Yu Jianyong, president of Donghua University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chen Ge, vice president of Donghua University and chairman of Shanghai Donghua University Education Development Foundation, Zhu Beina, secretary and supervisor of China Cotton Textile Association, Zhang Hongxia, secretary of the Party Committee and general manager of Weiqiao Pioneering Group, and Ding Xiaodong, head of the Secretariat of Shiping Charity Foundation attended the donation ceremony.

At the donation ceremony, Zhang Hongxia handed a donation check to Yu Jianyong, the president of Donghua University, to support the university's scientific and technological innovation and talent training. On behalf of Donghua University, Yu Jianyong awarded Zhang Hongxia the title of "Honorary Alumni of Donghua University" and the "Outstanding Educational Contribution Award of Donghua University". Shanghai Donghua University Education Development Foundation and Shiping Charity Foundation signed a donation agreement.

In order to support the self- construction of Donghua University and carry out teaching and research innovation activities, Shiping Charity Foundation donated funds to the Donghua University Education Development Foundation to establish the "Donghua University Weiqiao Education and Research Innovation Fund". Ten million Yuan of the fund would be used to support the construction and development of Donghua University. The remaining funds would be used to carry out the WeiqiaoEducation and Research Innovation project, support Donghua University to improve the scientific research and innovation capabilities in the field of new textile materials, and train high-level teachers and high-quality talents, support outstanding teachers and students in innovation and entrepreneurship, and carry out international and domestic academic exchange activities.
